Terri Hendrix Terri Hendrix

To know Terri Hendrix and her music is to know an artist driven by creating and the passion for motion itself. Terri is a multi-instrumentalist (acoustic guitar, harmonica, mandolin, papoose) who writes, sings, and runs her own label, Wilory Records.

Terri unites rustic pop and roots music on an ambitious, soul-searching musical journey.

Born and raised in San Antonio, TX, Terri's interests were guitar and voice. She went on to major in music on vocal scholarship at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene Texas. She transferred to Southwest Texas State University where she soon began her career in music after the encouragement of a group of local songwriters in the San Marcos music scene at Cheatham Street Warehouse.

Terri has confronted and conquered obstacles steering the ship of her career against the tide of music industry conformity. Wilory Records was started over a kitchen table in Terri's apartment with a group of friends folding CD artwork, labeling envelopes, licking stamps, and organizing the incoming and outgoing mail orders. Terri started Wilory Records because her eclectic style was best handled with the help of a team and a personal organic grassroots approach to selling and marketing her music. In addition, this has enabled her to have far greater artistic and economic control. She has amassed a phenomenal fan base through national and international touring. Her music, merchandise, website, the Internet, and her personal approach with her 20 thousand strong email-mailing list has taken her label out of the kitchen and into an office. Her music is distributed nationally through Wilory Records and internationally through CRS/Rounder.

With a liberal dose of humor and wit that Terri's audience has come to love and expect, Terri often uses her own experience as a starting point and writes about direction and finding one's place in the world in spite of weeds in the garden of life-fear, doubt, and uncertainty.

Music lovers of all ages and genres identify with the independent spirit and boundless diversity that Terri's music embodies
