Tegan and Sara

Tegan Rain and Sara Kiersten Quin were born September 19th, 1980. Growing up in Calgary, these sisters were originally inspired by their parents' love of music. At age 8, they began playing piano. By their mid-teens they were hashing it out in punk bands. Eventually, Tegan says, "we grew out of our teen angst stage anyway: and began writing and performing acoustically."

The girls founded a punk band in high school but when their PA died and their Mother wouldn't get it fixed they became just Tegan and Sara, (or was it Sara and Tegan?) acoustic act.

When they won a garage band contest at age 17 their career took off from there. They sent their record to the president of Vapor Records who signed them.

Since then they have toured with many artists including Neil Young, Rufus Wainwrigh, Melissa Ferrick, among others.

They moved to Portland, OR in early 2007, to work on their next record.

The Con is their fifth album.
