Neko Case

Neko Case was born in 1970 in Virginia to folks who, it seems, were a little too young to be in that situation. Her home life was less than ideal judging by her self-written bio on her website. At least she has a sense of humor about it:

"My parents very much wanted me to become a crack-whore, but I gravely disappointed them by graduating from college."

She left home at 15.

While attending school at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Canada she joined some rock and punk bands as a drummer. In 1998 she recorded a few songs with the New Pornographers and the record was a huge success.

She is probably more well known as a solo artist. She recorded and toured for several years as Neko Case & Her Boyfriends but in 2000 dropped the "boyfriends".

Her success doesn't seem to be fading at all. Her parents must be really disappointed now.
