Jude Johnstone
Jude Johnstone grew up in coastal Maine and began playing the piano as soon as she could reach the keys.
She had a well-rounded, if informal musical education when she was a child. Her mother who was a singer in
their church taught her harmony while she learned of rock and roll from her brothers and the music of Glenn
Miller and Sarah Vaughn from her father.
She began writing songs by age ten, then played clubs while still in high school. At nineteen, she headed to
Los Angeles to continue her training in the studios and nightclubs there. There she collaborated with many of
that city's top producers and musicians.
Many accomplished acts have covered her songs: Stevie Nicks, Bette Midler, Trisha Yearwood, Bonnie Raitt,
Jennifer Warnes and Johnny Cash to name a few.
Her debut collection, "Coming of Age" includes contributions by several of the above artists, as well as
Jackson Browne and "the legendary" Valerie Carter, and Yearwood's producer, Garth Fundis.
Johnstone lives with her husband (writer/producer Charles Duncan), and their two daughters in a quiet
village on California's central coast.
