Cat Kinsey
Growing up in the Midwest, Cat was surrounded by open spaces and a family deeply committed to all avenues in the arts. She was playing piano by the age of five and quickly developed a talent with the cello that kept her in the classical world thoughout college. While studying abroad in Italy, Cat decided to pack a guitar in lieu of the cello and found herself writing songs rather than studying and traveling with her music everywhere from the boot of Italy to England and Ireland. Upon returning to the United States, she recorded her first self-titled EP and headed West.
Based out of Seattle since Winter of 2000, Cat Kinsey has quickly established herself as one of the Northwest's most promising emerging artists. With a progressive folk style that hints of influences such as Ricky Lee Jones, Patty Larkin, Suzanne Vega, and the guitar prowess/conviction of Ani Difranco, Cat has performed to audiences on both coasts and recently released her first full length album, Perspective, on the independent label North Forty Records.
