The Camdens with Katy Vernon

Born and raised in South East London. I've always loved to sing and dance and basically show off!! I've made up songs for most of my life, often staging musicals of epic length in my bedroom as a kid! I started actually writing them down when I was about twelve, the year my Mother died, and have continued to write since then. I guess influences on me back then have to include ABBA, Madonna and no I'm not ashamed of that! But also Patsy Cline, Annie Lennox and even Whitney Houston were singers that I listened to a lot.

I moved to the USA in '93 and sought out fellow musicians to play with I'm not sure if I would have even pursued being in a band if I hadn't left England, but being in a new country made me feel I could try anything. I met Scott Walker in September of '96 and we very quickly started to collaborate on songs. I am really enjoying the experiences that playing with The Camdens is giving me and it's exciting to watch the crowds grow as we are growing as a band. My goals are to improve my guitar playing so I'm not so nervous playing in front of people and to continue to push my song writing.
