Note: this Collected Sounds Interview was conducted and written by Independent contributor, Anna Maria Stjärnell
What's the music scene like where you live?
The music scene in Atlanta is pretty diverse - maybe not as eclectic as NYC, but we seem to have a little bit of everything and some pretty good medium
sized venues that are great to play in.
How long did this album take to make?(re: self-titled debut)
Gee, I'm not sure - it was a long time ago. Since this was our first recording that we mostly paid for it ourselves. We recorded it in fits and spurts as
we could afford studio time. It was a great time though and because the recording was stretched out, we were able to fine-tune the songs in the interim.
Are you going to tour?.
I'd really like to.
What music do you listen to?
I've been listening to all sorts of stuff recently. I love Sigur Ros and have recently gotten into the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. I will always love Björk!
Everything she does is great. I also like Nick Cave and P.J. Harvey especially for their storytelling abilities. Also, after he died our local college
station played Johnny Cash all day and some of his songs were really great! I've also been into the brit-pop phenomenon a bit: Interpol, Radiohead,
all that swirly stuff like the clientele...
Have you found replacements for the band members who left?
Right now I'm concentrating on finishing school and am planning a solo album. The rest of the band are doing their own thing too
- I'm sure when the time is right it will all come together again.
Thanks for the interview. I love your site - go women
musicians!
