News Here's what is new on Collected Sounds for the month of September 2006 Hi my fellow music lovers! Sorry this newsletter is a little late. I had intended to do it this past weekend but my lovely ISP decided I did not need Internet all weekend and my connections were spotty at best. Also I've been working on a big project…more in "News" below: I am attempting to establish Collected Sounds Blog as a premiere news site for independent artists. I was trying to just beef up my blog with some news and did some searches for "indie news" online and found next to nothing. So, obviously, this is a needed service, right? Why not BE it? Since the info was not readily available online I realized the best place to go is to the artists themselves. So I've spent that past week or so gathering all the email addresses I have for all the artists I've been in contact with over the last six years (almost 7! Can you believe it?) I've been doing this and creating a mailing list so that I could announce it to all of them and ask for their news items. I sent the letter out to almost 600 people. I've gotten a really good response so far. Many sending me their news stories, but also writing to thank me for doing it, sending their lovely words of encouragement. I love musicians! So tell all your friends that: blog.collectedsounds.com is the place to go for news about their favorite (mainly female, but I will add the males I adore as well) artists. I intend to announce tours, new album releases, new video releases, signings, etc. I may even have a few exclusives. Come visit the blog and make some comments. I always like feedback :) As you may or may not have noticed I removed the forums. No one was suing them and they were just taking up precious space on my web realty so I ditched them. Maybe they'll come back someday. But for now if you have something you want to discuss, either see if there's a similar topic on the blog or join the discussion list, Musings. OK enough about what I'm doing; let's move onto what new on the rest of the site, shall we?  New Spotlights Collected Sounds' Spotlight Artist of the MonthCollected Sounds' does not have a Spotlight Artist of the Month this time, but if you didn't already check out Halie Loren, please do. She's lovely. House Concerts We've had a little break in the action over here at the house with August and September off. Our next show is the glitter girl, Rachael Sage! We are so excited to have her back. We've decided not to have the Halloween party on the same night, so if you were shy about coming thinking you would be expected to wear a costume or get drunk with us, you no longer have to worry about that. Just come and enjoy the theatrical and hilarious stylings of the one and only Ms. Rachael Sage. I have her new record and it's really really good. Come see these songs live! We've also confirmed our very first show of 2007. Well, it might not be the first show of the year, but it's the first one confirmed. Brianna Lane is coming back (wooo-hoo!) and this time she'll be joined by Ellery. They are a husband-wife duo from Ohio who play a great, unique brand of acoustic alternative folk. They've recently been signed by Collected Sounds firend and favorite, Virt Records (former home to Vienna Teng). Ellery was also discovered on Collected Sounds! CD Reviews Here are all the CDs reviewed in August 2006: There aren't that many reviews this time because frankly I wasn't liking much if what I heard. But I think I'm out of the slump now and have some good stuff on my desk. So hopefully next month will be bigger!
