News Here's what is new on Collected Sounds for the month of November 2006 Hi my fellow music lovers! I have a little favor to ask....I just found out about these Independent Music Awards and I would love to be nominated for best music website of the year. I don't have any illusions that I can compete with, say, Pitchfork, but it would be really cool to be on the list anyway. :) So suggest Collected Sounds for Music Website of the Year! Here's what you do:
While you're there feel free to also suggest your favorite artists, albums and and songs. PLUG is a collection of music lovers: writers, DJs, webmasters, artists, filmmakers, managers, indie retailers, and most importantly fans - who gather together each year to celebrate the artists who live and flourish in the margins. I always like feedback :)  House Concerts Our next show is a tentatively scheduled January show with my favorite boy (ok second favorite if you count my husband), Gregory Douglass. We don't have a date set yet, so I can't give you any more than that. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed. We're beginning to fill up 2007 already! Here's what's confirmed: February: Brianna Lane is coming back (wooo-hoo!) and this time she'll be joined by Ellery. They are a husband-wife duo from Ohio who play a great, unique brand of acoustic alternative folk. They've recently been signed by Collected Sounds friend and favorite, Virt Records (former home to Vienna Teng). Ellery was also discovered on Collected Sounds!
March: Shauna Burns I've been a fan of Shauna's CD, Every Thought since the second I heard it. I'm very excited to have her perform in my home.
Again, I have some more artists interested who have "claimed' months, and I would LOVE to host them but frankly, attendance has been well, let’s just say less than I’m happy with lately so I am not booking any more until people start coming again. Great show. Rachael Sage in our living room Fantastic as always! I mentioned last time that I was hoping to see Regina Spektor at the Varsity on the 19th of November. But That didn't happen. I think it sold out. I tried to get tickets and was unable. Then I tried my "insider contacts" which were a bust as well. Oh well. I would have written a really nice review!
