News Here's what is new on Collected Sounds for the month of January 2007 Hi my fellow music lovers! Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great holiday season (is it over already?) It being a new year and all I decided to do some house cleaning. It takes a lot of time to manage this website and time is something I find less and less of as I age. If this were my "real" job, things would be different. But alas, this is a hobby therefore must be done in my spare time. So anything that wasn't pulling its weight is gone. So I have done some restructuring and some lay offs. The Boys on the Side section is no more. I only had a few guys there anyway, so I just moved them into the rest of the site. All one world, all one people, baby. I changed the logo so that it says Celebrating Independent Musicians instead of Women in Music because I felt I was being a little too elitist, or something. This site still focuses on woman, for sure. But since there are men here too and they are not singled out, I figured let's all join together. The classified ads were not getting a lot of traffic or posters, so I "fired" that. The discussion group, Musings was also ditched. I had several subscribers, but no one ever posted, except me. We did have some technical difficulties in that sometimes I was the only one to receive messages. I did have it fixed, but then no one discussed. So it's history. The Forums were "laid off" some months ago due to lack of participation (did anyone notice?). But now that I have no other way for all you lovelies to talk amongst yourselves I am thinking of putting it back up. Let me know if you're interested.  Spotlight Artist Lisa Lauren is our Spotlight Artist of the Month. [See her new Spotlight] Lisa has been on Collected Sounds for a long time. But her page is all updated with a new photo and new bio (and new links too) I also updated some other artists pages:
House Concerts We took some needed time off (a couple of months) and now we're ready to go again! Here's what's confirmed: February: Brianna Lane is coming back (wooo-hoo!) and this time she'll be joined by Ellery. They are a husband-wife duo from Ohio who play a great, unique brand of acoustic alternative folk. They've recently been signed by Collected Sounds friend and favorite, Virt Records (former home to Vienna Teng). Ellery was also discovered on Collected Sounds!
March: Shauna Burns I've been a fan of Shauna's CD, Every Thought since the second I heard it. I'm very excited to have her perform in my home.
April: Beth Amsel I'm super excited to have Beth back in the hizzous. She was our first concert in the new house and every time she visits she makes more people
fall in love with her.
June: Brianna Lane is soon becoming our most booked artist! On June 16th time she will be joined by Adrianne (they're playing seperate show, but on the same night). I've been hooked on Adrianne's
music since I heard her samper CD that someone sent me a few years ago. So I'm anxious to hear her live. Her records are great!

Bit Meredith saw The Weepies and wrote up a nice reivew: The Weepies Mldofrd, CT December 6, 2006 Album Reviews Here are all the albums reviewed in December 2006: This section is a little dinky this month. I really ended up taking most of the last part of December off due to the fact that I decided to make all my holiday gifts this year which meant hours and hours of knitting and running out to the craft store.
