Here's what is new on Collected Sounds for the month of January 2006

Hey everyone, I guess I'm a few days late on the newsletter. Sorry! I got a little busy with holiday "clean up".

I hope you all had a nice holiday season and are settling into making 2006 a great year!

I've got some fun things in store here for 2006. Some I have eluded to already and some new. But I'll not divulge anything yet because things could change.

If you have not checked out my favorite CDs of 2005 take a look

Now keep in mind, these are only CDs send to me. I also bought some I really liked…Kate Bush's "Aeriel" for one. However, one day I had it shuffling with a bunch of other CDs and at one point I said to myself, 'who the h3ll is this? She's totally off-key!" and it was our Kate. Oh well…guess the songs sound better to me as a whole, huh?

There were also some left off the listen because I didn't review them in time. Marie Frank's new one springs to mind. She's great.

I also really liked Emily White's "Every Pulse"

and Genevieve's "This Little Thing Called Life"

...oh and....oh never mind, just read the new additions. I could add at least 3 more to the ever growing list. There's been a lot of great stuff out lately.

House Concerts

Upcoming Shows

I'm taking a break from hosting shows until March of 2006. I'm trying to retool the whole thing. One thing I'm thinking is that it might have to be that we don't ask for a donation for the artists. Just tell people to buy CDs. But this isn't going to fly with most artists and that means that the caliber of performers goes down significantly. I love the fact that we get pretty big names and that would change if there were no donations. You get what you pay for, right? I certainly can't "pay" them out of my pocket. These actually cost me money (quite a bit I might add). So I am kind of at a loss. I don't want to stop doing them, but no one wants to come over and play for just me.

If any of you have any experience with this, or have any suggestions for me I would love to hear them!

But we are still planning on (and looking forward to) Julie Lloyd and Brianna Lane for March 25, 2006.
