A Violent Narcotic by Jute "A Violent Narcotic"
by Jute

a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Julie Axis used to be in the brilliant My Scarlet Life. Jute has a similar trip hop meets dream-pop feel to their music. Axis" fluttery vocal is set against impressive musical vistas.

"Ephemeral" is a darkly seductive song. Axis' sweet voice works fine against the nightmarish backdrop.

"Rising of Reason" is very reminiscent of Tricky both in music and Joe Axis' menacing vocal. The song is good enough to have fitted in on "Maxinquaye".

"Advent of Zero" sees the band use a cinematic feel. Julie Axis" voice is wrapped in a narcotic haze as the music undulates.

This is a fine debut for Jute who will surely find the audience they deserve.
