a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell
Danish singer Marie Frank's first CD was a delightful
listen so it's great to hear her second album. It's
only out in Scandinavia so far, but let's hope that
changes. Frank"s light pop sound reminds me a lot of
Lisa Loeb and Norway's Lene Marlin.
"Worth It" is a charmer, an up tempo sing that will
make you happy if you hear it. It's just as good as
"Symptom of my Time" was on the last album.
Frank does melancholy songs in a good way too. "Starcatching
Girl" is a lovely, plaintive song and album closer "Maggie's Song" is a sad story told well.
"Here We Are" flirts with trip hop and comes out sounding amazing. Frank's pixie-like voice and an understated trumpet are used well here.
"Big Love" is another energetic track that sounds just
right.
"Vermilion" is a fine pop album and Marie Frank's an
artist who'll be around a long time.
