 "Valery Gore"
by Valery Gore

a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Valery Gore's debut is assured as they come. The singer/pianist treats her instrument intriguingly and pens smart songs.

"Elliot Goes" pays tribute to Elliott Smith and its tart harmonies and Gore's skill at her piano lend it a great feel. I'm reminded of Sarah Slean.

"A Leaving Car" is a lovely song with an understated feel to it.

"Augustine" is utterly gorgeous sighing

"You're my 1952" while Gore treats us to a swooning melody.

The jazzy "White Pills" is the most ambitious track. Its sad lyric belies the late night easy listening vibe that opens it. It grows more complex as it progresses.

Gore's album is memorable
