a Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds
I first heard Jenny when she played my house. Weird I know, but she was opening for Beth Amsel. We had a great time while they were here, eating, telling off-color jokes and laughing and it's always great to discover a new artist.
My first impression was that her voice reminded me of early Dar Williams. She has that deep alto voice that has a teensy but of a trill to it…some times more apparent than at others. Mostly when she hits the higher notes.
I guess her style is mainly folk, but she throws a little Americana in there as well. S-Curve Roads is very nearly country.
The Good Daughter is very catchy and has a great banjo part. I can easily imagine this one on the radio.
Compass is another one I Like. It's got some great guitar finger picking.
I know Jenny was out of the biz for a while, but I'm glad she's back. This is a good record.
