a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell
Rebecca Pidgeon is an actress and singer and has made progress in both fields. Her new solo record is a pleasing listen.
She works with Larry Klein of Joni Mitchell and Shawn Colvin fame.
"Tangerine" is a soft jazzy hush of a song. I'm reminded of Suzanne Vega's "Caramel" and not just for the edible title.
"Tough on Crime" has a protagonist who's in love with a superhero. It's a playful and sensuous song with Walter Becker of Steely Dan guesting on guitar.
"Nasty Guy" is a sharp but still smooth song as Pidgeon lambastes a less than worthy man. Brilliant sleazy harmonica part too.
"The Romance of Everyday" is a classic-sounding ballad that lives up to its title. In all this is a lovely album.
