Take That by Karen Mack "Take That"
by Karen Mack

a Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

Karen Mack's "Take That" is a fun CD.

"Different for Girls" is a cleverly written song with a lingering melody. Quite radio friendly.

"I Remember You" has a jazzy/salsa feel to it (if that makes any sense)

"It Gets in the Way" has an interesting and catchy melody. It reminds me of another Collected Sounds artist, Anny.

"Take That" has sweeping strings layered with crazy guitar.

Karen has a real knack for lyrics and the turn of a phrase. She witty, smart and truthful. As in "Long Goodbyes" she says:

I've never been a fan of long goodbyes
I'll never be the girl that stands there wavin'
While the train is pullin' out
Yelling 'write and please behave'
I guess in some silly
I always think that you should stay

She wrote most of the songs on this CD, the others written by her partner, Michael Holland (with the exception of "She Gets a Little Crazy" written by Dorianne Elliot). They're all great songs and this is a promising debut.
