a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell
Marnie Boyd's music is relaxing without being
edgeless. She sings and plays the harp and the piano
to great effect. There are similarities in her style
and Loreena McKennitt's.
"Sleeping Partner" showcases Boyd's expert
harp-playing and boasts a stirring melody. The vocal
parts are beautiful and a little eerie in places.
"Holiday" is very atmospheric. It conjures a mood of
restfulness that goes well with the title.
"Ca the Yowes" is by Robert Burns and Boyd treats it with
respect and makes it haunting.
"Take My Hand" is beautifully made and dynamic in a Celtic folk style.
"Blue Serenade" is very intriguing. Marnie Boyd's near
operatic vocals and the sweet melody make it great.
It's a very rewarding album in all.
