a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell
Scarling follow a well-received ep with this full-length cd. Singer Jessicka used to be in Jack Off Jill.
The album starts well with the dream poppy "Hello London", awash with banks of distortion and a cooing vocal.
"Bummer" weds My Bloody Valentine's walls of guitars with Lush's pop sense. In fact, this record recalls the early nineties so called shoe-gazing era. Yes, time flies.
"Manorexic" has a great melody and Jessicka's vocal is truly gorgeous.
"Caribou and Cake" merges noise and a sugar-spun melody effortlessly.
The concluding title track is very sad but moving. It's a great way to end one of my favorite albums of the year.
