a Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds
This CD arrived in my mailbox with a beautiful rose and bow wrapped around it. Very clever. The music is just as pretty.
Erica has a strong voice and strong lyrics as well. She gets right to it on the first song, "Shadow":
"Don't pretend you're something you're not
When you're just like all the rest
Don't be the prick you really are
After showing me your best
Give it a rest"
Her songs mostly come from pain. She writes of betrayal, corporate nastiness and drug overdose. In "Monochrome" she sings:
"You tore me open with a pain
That screamed in colors I couldn't contain…"
But in "Free Like Me" she explains how accepting her lot in life gives her freedom.
The music's sound is folk/rock with a tad blues. Acoustic and electrical guitar, bass, drums, vocals and the occasional keyboard combine to make a solid sound.
