a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

This is an ep Alice Ripley and her band made before she got around to the brilliant debut I just wrote about here. This is just as cool.

“Romeo” is Chrissie Hynde updated for the new age. Ripley’s sass and vocal skill comes through here.

“Lucky Man” is sung rather like Kate Bush meets Debbie Harry and played like a new wave hit. Ripley’s got as many voices as she has songs I think.

“Sky” twinkles brightly, a little less buoyant than the other songs at first. Its sense of urgency is felt soon as it gets going.

I thought “Outtasite” was perfect.

This is good too, and a great place to start.
