Revelling/Reckoning - Ani DiFranco "Revelling/Reckoning"
by Ani DiFranco

a Review by Jennifer from the Dar List

Just thought I would give a little review of the new Ani album.

It is so good. What else can be said about it really? The first disc is fantastic, the second disc is soulful and sad and happy and beautiful.
It is just an incredible mixture of how Ani used to be and to how she became in the last few albums. It's so personal in the same way that her older stuff was, but with a really perfect sound.
While listening to it, it's almost like you can't imagine a time BEFORE these songs were recorded, if that makes sense. It just is great.

And, let me just say briefly, that the packaging ROCKS! It is so nicely put together. (If you care about that sort of thing.)

So, on April 10, get out there and buy the new album.

Collected Sounds review (by Amy)

Well, I love Ani deeply but this new one isn't really "doing it" for me as of yet.
The Reckoning CD is reminiscent of "To The Teeth". Funky, jazzy and fun. I've only listened a few times and I like it…I just don't love it. Yet.
The Revelling CD is slow and jazzy. I see it as great for background music but it hasn't really grabbed me yet. I'm sure if I sat down with the lyrics and listened carefully it would grow on me like all of Ani's recordings have.

If anyone else has any thought on the CD Email me and let me know!
