a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell
Arcana have been playing their darkwave music a while now. They've got a loyal audience that should adore their new record. Singer Peter Bjärgö has a deep vocal style that recalls Dead Can Dance's Brendan Perry and the music is equally somber.
Sigh of Relief is a bit lighter with a keyboard setting the tone. The instrumental song sounds like getting lost in an enchanted forest.
Invisible Motions sees a near tribal rhythm supporting the vocalists Ann-Mari Thörn and Ia Bjärgö as their voices entwine to great effect.
Out of the Gray Ashes sees Bjärgö painting an apocalyptic vision with a glimmer of hope. The song is wonderfully arranged and sung in a drone of a vocal that's unique.
This album is not for everyone but the faithful will love it.
