This is an interesting record. It's really pretty unique, or at least it's different from much of what I listen to regularly. I actually don't even know how to classify it. The only phrase I can think to describe it is 'world music' but that's not completely accurate either. Maybe I just use that when something sounds foreign to me. There is a Celtic sound to the music but also a folky rock sound as well.

Mazz' voice is really interesting. It's deep, soulful and powerful with a touch of smoke. But she can hit the high notes with precision.

She also plays the violin and while one tends to think of the violin as either a classical instrument or a bluegrass one (well, fiddle) this music is really neither. But it sounds fantastic.

Brad Hammond plays guitar and the two mesh really well together.
