Sophe Lux is a band fronted by Wendy Lynne Haynes.
Their debut boasts original songs about unusual topics.
"Void of Course" is a piano driven tune with bizarre lyrics.
"Little Odessa" is a beautiful, fluid song that puts the focus on Haynes' lovely voice.
"Freddy's Tune(Song for Nietzsche)" is pretty self explanatory in its subject matter. Musically it's gentle and country-flavoured.
"Mermaid Song" is another quiet song, but its lyrics bite deeply. It's a strange tale of a man corrupting and sleeping with mermaids. Thanks to Haynes talent it's a strong, moving song rather than a whimsical one.
The Velvet Underground-like "Perfect Love" boasts a great chorus.
"Peur Eternus" has words of a sex-change and the closing "22" is in part based on Lord Byron's epic poem "Manfred".
It's fair to say that Sophe Lux isn't your average band. Bless them.
