a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell
Piney Gir hails from Kansas City, but she sounds like she's out of this world. Her solo debut is electronica, but it's twisted to suit her impatient outlook.
"Girl" is electro-clash, but more naïve than say Miss Kittin.
The cover of the Who's classic "My Generation" is a treat. In her hands it becomes a hysterical, shout-a-long with distorted vocals and a breakneck pace.
"Greetings, salutations, Goodbye" sounds like an old time country song.
"Sweet" is pure lounge with impossibly languid vocals.
The synth of "Jezebel" is a tale of a groupie with nods to Gary Glitter.
"Hey hey rock'n'roll" deadpans Gir.
This is inventive, clever and unmissable.
