a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell
Cristina Necula’s debut is nice.
Her singing is almost operatic and the backing keyboards are used like the ones on Leonard Cohen’s later albums.
Her words are poetic and accurate.
“Encounter” sees her emoting nicely against a very retro-sounding backing.
“Brujita(the witch)” has mystical words in Spanish of strange doings and a neat melody.
“I’m Not the One” uses a folk melody to create a nice little song.
“Chess” is one of the strongest songs, Necula managing an exotic melody on her keyboard.
It’s a very good record.
