a Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds
There is definitely something about this CD that makes me feel like I'm somewhere in the late 70s. But I like that. It was a happy time!
A few of the songs utilize the flute, which makes me think of Sesame Street.
"Stop" sounds theatrical, like it belongs in a Barbra Streisand film.
"Tree" has lovely piano arrangement played by Lavender herself.
Lavender has a soothing voice and is clearly a talented songwriter. The music falls somewhere in the jazz, new age, almost big band/piano bar range.
A tad reminiscent of Everything But The Girl, but a little more sophisticated, this is nice jazzy mellow stuff.
