a Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds
I'd heard Shelley Miller's name bandied about on the Internet on the various mailing lists I am on, but had never heard her music until now.
I'd put her in the alt.country category if I had to say. It's a nice blend of folk and country without being too heavy on the country portion. You know, folky girl and guitar thing.
"Beauty Wash Over Me" is really very pretty. It's got lovely guitar and her voice is almost whispery.
"Danger Danger" is maybe my favorite. Interesting melody. Nice vocals.
She shows she can really rock it on "Rocking Chair"
One thing I've noticed that I find interesting about this record. If I play it in the order it was created (track 1, 2, 3, etc) I get a completely different feel than if I put it on shuffle. Neither one better or worse, just different.
She reminds me a little of Brianna Lane although not quite as upbeat. Still good, but where Brianna's music is catchy and friendly, this is more thoughtful and mellow…for the most part.
A nice offering.
