 "The Mezzanine"
by Liz Durrett

a Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

If you ever need to calm yourself down this is a good record to listen to. I don't mean that in any way other than exactly what I said. It's a very peaceful album. The vocals are soft and whispery, the melodies slow and graceful, you can't help but slow your heart rate down.

Production plays a large part here. The multi-layered effects and the echoey ghostie sounds are really enchanting.

I've been listening to it for weeks now, and though many of the songs sound alike, there are stand outs. "Silent Partner" is beautiful and haunting. I love the melody of "All the Spokes". But the title track "The Mezzanine" is simply gorgeous.

This is a lovely calming record.

Side note: this record was produced by her uncle, Vic Chestnutt.
