 "Love+Rescue"
by Cameron Dezen

a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Cameron Dezen has a sweet voice and her second album has plenty of strong songs. “Waiting(the promise)” is a vow to be true to a loved one, and Dezen’s singing seems sincere. The strings and Dezen’s piano help make it lovely.

"Want You to know” has a resemblance to Tori Amos, but soon it becomes clear that Dezen is her own woman. Her lyrics are less cryptic than Amos’ and easier to connect with for the listener. The clever arrangement lifts “Just Like me”, while the anthemic chorus drives it home. It’s a tad like Dido’s latest album.

“Didn’t I” is a bare and moving piano ballad, showing Dezen’s skills as a singer.

“Happier” is as sweet a song of domestic bliss as you’ll ever hear. Dezen and her producer/husband Matt Hammon avoid overt sentimentality.

“Love+Rescue” is a charming record.
