a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell
Liz Tormes has a lovely voice and she puts it to good use on her first album.
“Read my mind” opens it nicely, with a wistful vocal and a fabulous guitar part.
The dreamy strains of the title track have a distinct country lilt to them, Tormes echoing Margo Timmins of Cowboy Junkies in her delivery.
“Maybe You wont” is a duet with Teddy Thompson (son of Richard and Linda), a subtle and moving song.
They get their point across without raising their voices.
“Better Days” is a melancholy song in the vein of an Americana Aimee Mann.
Tormes clearly has the voice and the songs to get the attention she deserves.
This is a fine debut.
