 "Leap Year"
by Sara Rodrigues

a Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

Sara Rodrigues reminds me of a more raw Sarah Slean, Fiona Apple type. While they're polished and flashy, Rodrigues is more guts and emotions.

Her voice is powerfully vulnerable, if that makes any sense. It's strong, yet sounds pleading, almost hurt at times.

I love the minimalist sound of the piano on "Paste". It reminds me of George Winston's pieces. It makes me want to close my eyes and day dream.

"Used" has more instrumentation making this an almost rock song. It's a short one though. Just as you're getting into it, it's gone.

"Leap Year" is a fantastic song. I can see why it was chosen as the title track.

"Everyone But Me" has some sort of background "noise" going on about half way through. It sounds like a radio or TV, probably a newscast. I can't make it out, but it's there. It's strange, but cool. Wow, this is a sad one.

These songs are well written, with interesting melodies and intelligent lyrics. Sara Rodrigues is everything I look for in music. I know I'm not the only one. Those who like smart, emotional piano-based music need to check her out.

Comment: I've never read a review that actually described the music on the CD properly - until I read this one. This is exactly what the CD sounds like. Good job putting it into words Amy. And yes, it is a great CD.

Gosh, Peter. Thanks so much. It's so nice to get a compliment instead of "you don't know what you're talking about." I appreciate it. And yes, a wonderful CD --AAL
