a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell
Ladytown is Sarah Coleman who makes beautiful Americana. She has a pure, lovely voice and writes great songs.
"The Big Invisible" is a moody song where Coleman yodels a bit. It's somewhat like Maria McKee's early material.
"Lolita" is a down-tempo song with some great slide guitar.
"Easy Come/It's Alright" has the haunted nature of an old folk song but it's Coleman who wrote it.
"Wo Xinag Ni (I Miss you)" is like the now defunct Tarnation. Coleman's moody vocals come to the fore here. She sings in what appears to be Chinese, which gives the song an exotic feel.
Ladytown's record is startling and brilliant.
