a Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

I've reviewed Santa Dog's work in the past (see sidebar for links to other reviews) and I liked them so well that at least one of their songs has made it into personal mix CDs.

I've been wanting a full length album from this band since I first heard them in 2005 so I'm glad to finally have one, and it's just as good as I knew it would be. It does have some songs that were on the previous EPs, but many new ones as well.

They have a unique brand of pop that has a little bit of a retro 80s feel but is surely Brit. Seeing as I am in love with all things British, it's no surprise I really like them.

Lead singer Rowena Dugdale has a low smooth voice that blends very well with the other instruments and the melodies. She throws in the occasional shout, "yeah!" or "Oh!" which makes the listener say, "Yep, that's Santa Dog alright!"

"Pop Coloured" was on their EP Belle Du Jour. I loved it then, I love it now. The guitar line is so Smiths-y.

There's a lot going on here. There are only 4 people in the band, but it sounds like more. I just really enjoy these guys.

Now that I have my wish of a full-length record, my new wish is to see them live.
