"Katie Goes to Tokyo" by Katie Goes to Tokyo

Katie Goes to Tokyo is Kathrine Bergström’s solo project after stints in bands like Backfish and Wilson Hospital. It’s a very poppy and Nordic-sounding effort. I’m reminded of Cardigans and other bands of that ilk.

“Close to you” is a lovely song, the singer’s girlish vocals accentuated by a very slow beat.

“Everywhere I go” is sunny and upbeat, a classic pop song.

“If it’s alright” is a ballad that sounds like a big hit. The strings work well with the song underscoring the longing in the lyrics.

“Somebody I never Knew” is a great song, and elegiac mood underpinning the pop trappings.

This is a record for the fans of old-school power pop. You can’t go wrong with Katie.
