a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell
Jennifer Hanson is a jazz singer and here she’s singing the songs of Graham Shaw.
It all sounds very sophisticated and moody, like the soundtrack to a film noir.
“Little Dreamer” is velvet-smooth and as relaxed as Norah Jones. Hanson shares her precision and warmth.
The deliciously paced “In the Cathouse Again” is everso sweet and a bit naughty.
Well you know what a cathouse is don’t you?
“Honey wont you please come home” is touching and warm. Hanson’s vocal plays well against the piano.
The ironic “In Hollywood It Happens All The Time” tells of a suitably starstruck young girl.
Hanson effortlessly inhabits this character and adds her own sweetness.
“How The Night People Pray” is way too short at half an hour, but that makes it all the more precious.
