a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell
Melissa Cupernall fronts the delightfully off-center Carnies and her sister Meghan is in the band too.
These mystical tales are spun most intriguingly. Cupernall sings sweetly of spells in “Spells to Bed” as the band delivers a sprightly yet sinister
backing.
“Barnacle Bridge” is awash with mysterious tidings, Cupernall sounding like an updated Kate Bush.
“Invention” uses a rapid tempo and a rich vocal. It’s one of the debut’s best cuts.
Elsewhere she sings of things further down the beard and misers. She has a language all her own and this debut is special.
