a Review by Amy Producer of Collected Sounds
When I first popped this in, I thought it was going to be a little too "adult/mature" for me. But as I listened I realized it was making me feel really really good.
"Handpicked" is Marilyn's 9th album (yes, you read right, NINE) and it is, well, 16 of her best songs handpicked from Marilyn's previous eight releases. They are all gems.
Marilyn Scott's voice is beautiful and it's perfect for this style of music. I would call this jazz-pop. It's definitely jazzy, but not in a stuffy way. It's very accessible.
She didn't write all the songs here, so I she might not really qualify for exposure on this particular site. But I like the album so much I decided I didn't care. [Don't think that means I'm going to let Britney on here, however.]
Stand out songs: "Starting to Fall", " The Last Day", and her version of the old, "You Don't Know Me" is lovely.
