a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell
This band is not normal. I mean this as a compliment
of course. Their music is cabaret flavoured and punky.
Singer Caila Lipovsky has a persuasive way of
vocalising and the band seems to have gone to Captain
Beefheart's school of weirdness.
"The date" sounds like velvet underground fronted by a
more animated Nico.
"Pipsqueak" uses lovely cello lines and has a
burlesque mood.
"In the Night" has a father telling his daughter all
the terrible things that can happen to her in gruesome
detail. It's a very disturbing song.
Apartment are a special band, blessed with a uniquely
dark vison. Go seek them out.
