From the Inside by Triangle Park "From the Inside"
by Triangle Park

a Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

Triangle Park is Kate Lynch (vocals and bass), Annie Enneking (vocals and guitar), Kristen Froebel (background vocals, harmonica, melodica, and sax) and Chadly Koppenhaver (drums and percussion).

"From the Inside" is this Minneapolis group's debut CD, and it's great right out of the gate.

The CD opens up with "Freak" which is a great song about being different. It's humorous and touching. It also has nice vocal harmonies ala Belly.

"I am the freak, I'm the boy man
I am your neighbor with 22 cats
I am your auntie who no longer has breasts
Yes it's true; I'm a person too.

"Teen" has a decidedly Liz Phair quality to it. Not so much in the voice, but in the whole sound of the song. It's a disturbing tale of a teacher that got a little too close, told from the viewpoint of his student. Sad, but smartly written.

"Wean" is a humorous tune that could only be written by mothers (which these women are)

"Washing all those poop-filled wraps keeps me humble
that's a fact
I guess the dirty truth resides with me"

This is a great debut filled with songs that have well written lyrics, addictive melodies, great voices and professional musicianship. I look forward to hearing more from them.
