a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell
The Spirit Girls are lead by Marnie Weber and they are weird.
They enact strange scenes in the booklet and sing strangely compelling songs.
“Anthem for Ophelia” is haunted and played like a sinister lullaby. Weber’s voice takes on a quality of a Grace Slick possessed by demons.
“Milk Maid” is hardly innocent, its lead vocal is lovely but lifeless as if it’s seen to much dread.
“Small Town” is the sound of eerie, displaced voices of commonplace worlds.
Spirit Girls are half prog rock, half freak folk and all brilliant. Their album will warp you if you let it.
