a Review by Amy - Producer of Collected Sounds
I didn't think I liked jazz, but if this is jazz sign me up.
Patty's bio states that she's got a pretty strong jazz background attending the New School's prestigious Jazz & Contemporary Music program in NYC. So though I'm impressed, I'm not a huge jazz fan so I wasn't expecting to like this as well as I do. I don't know what I was expecting, but it isn't this.
This recording is a combination of pop, folk, and jazz that really works. Her voice matches the music very well and the songs are accessible, even to those who aren't familiar with the genre. But like I said, it's not straight jazz anyway.
The whole CD has a nice feel to it, but "I Fall in Love to Easily" makes me feel like I'm sitting in a smoky jazz club in another era. It's wonderful.
I also really like "Galliano" and "Come From Here".
This is one to choose if you're thinking you might like something a little different, perhaps a little more grown up, but still very easy to listen, enjoy and get into.
