 "Cut to the Chase"
by Javelyn

a Review by Amy Producer of Collected Sounds

I can't really name a genre that Javelyn fits into. Except to say that the music has a "Miami Vice" feel. The echoy vocals and drum-machine sounding beats take me back a couple of decades.

The opening track, "Daybreak" is even a little "older" sounding. Quite 70s, actually. But it's got a really cool melody.

Her voice is pleasing and shows its skill best on "Civil War" where she's able to growl a little.

"Little Creatures" is pretty and is a little more updated.

If you like your pop music a little retro-sounding, you might dig Javelyn.

Comment: "retro" - what decade are you from? I really liked this CD... especially in light of all that is happening in the world - Javelyn helps me escape and feel better about stuff. this review sounds like a very jaded person. sorry, you said to rate the CD review, too.

Ed. Note: No apologies needed...I did, indeed, say it's OK to comment on the review. We need opinions other than mine here. But, to answer your question...I am a child of the 70s-80s. It sounds very much from those decades to me. I did not say that is a bad thing. It's just what I observed. Feel free to disagree. And if the music makes you feel good then that's great! I don't think I'm jaded. But it is true that I listen to and review about 20 CDs a week and I've heard a WIDE range of stuff. This sounds "older" to me...again...I never said there was anything wrong with that.
