 "A Comfortable Struggle"
by The Side Project

a Review by Amy Producer of Collected Sounds

The Side Project has released a very nice soft piano pop album. I would say it fits squarely in the AAA category alongside Natalie Merchant, Sheryl Crowe, Sarah McLachlan and the like.

Lead Singer, Susie Anderson even reminds me of McLachlan at times. Her voice is much deeper, and less flowery/more gutsy, but there's something about the phrasing that is similar. A beautiful voice, nonetheless.

The music is alternative pop that wanders into other genres such as trip-hop and maybe even a little jazz.

The songwriting is first class, both lyrically and melodically. The tunes will stay with you long after the last song plays.

I think this will be in my rotation for some time yet.

Stand out songs: "Hold On, Hang On", "Neurosis", "Interlude III" but really if you like one of their songs, you'll probably like them all.

Comment: The best cd to play next a bubble bath, candles, and a glass of wine....the vocals are sultry, sexy, powerful. The instrumentals are played like they are an extension of the musicians' souls.....a winning mixture of harmony, melody, and passion.

Comment: *** LOVE *** The Side Project! Fantastic music, vocals are outstanding, lyrics are touching, powerful, and echo in your mind for days, weeks, group performance is engaging, unique, and a great escape. One day I can say I remember when they just started out… The Side Project is going to make all their dreams come true.
