…and now for something completely different!
A recent review said, "[The Coma Savants] could gig as the house
band on the Island of Misfit Toys..."
I would say that is a very appropriate description. The CD begins with the title song, "Coma Savant" where lead, Stephanie Rearick sings backwards. It just gets odder with every track. Odd in a good way, that is.
The word that comes to mind when listening to this recording is "carnival". The whole CD is a carnival ride. There is also a song called "Ferris Wheel", though it's not about Ferris wheels as much but rather about growing up…I think. I must admit Stephanie's brain is hooked up a little differently than mine. Here's a lyric sample from "Ferris Wheel":
Many of these songs have a decidedly cabaret-style sound to them. Not least of which is, "Uncle Runkle" which is a very cool track.
"Eating Machine" is a great song about consumerism…again, I think:

If you're looking for something fun, silly, cool and out of the norm, this is a good choice for you.
