This is an excellent compilation of tracks by female
solo artists and female fronted groups. It has a
healthy variety of styles and still holds together as
complete experience.
The best known names are Cowboy
Junkies and Ani DiFranco who both contribute great
songs. Other highlights include Floating Opera's
Blondie-esque "Agnes in Furs" , Spyglass' atmospheric
"Sleepyhead" and Violet's country-ish "The Martyr
Song". Coleen Rider made an nice debut awhile back
and previews her next album with the delightful "Wish
List".
The brilliant Hannah Fury showcases her album with the
eerie "Meathook".
Becki Di Gregorio closes the album in style with "Cats
in the Aviary".
I could go on about almost very track, because this is
one of those rare compilations that is all quality and
no filler. Go check it out and you.ll be sure to find
many new favourites.
