 "Beyond the Frame"
by Jennifer Lee

a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Jennifer Lee is a gifted singer, this much is obvious from the opening track of her debut album. The dramatic “Casualty” puts emphasis on her voice and piano. There is a similarity to other singers but the expression is hers alone.

“Just Love Me” is a deeply moving song of rejection and loss.

“Cock Pollution” goes straight for the jugular and gives an unflinching portrayal of sexism. Lee’s fluid piano melody and gorgeous vocal serve to highlight the seriousness of her words.

“You want one woman to be both your mother and your whore
You’re not conformable with who you are”

she scolds.

“Popular” has another gorgeous melody and is a bit more musically upbeat.

This album is a lovely and fearless thing.
