 Bettie Black
by Bettie Black

a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Bettie Black's debut is one cool ep. Black plays a bluesy, appealing version of rock with a nice line in catchy tunes.

"Nighttime People In A Daytime World" is sparse and restrained and packs a real punch nonetheless.

"Spill" recalls early P.J Harvey and thrillingly so, Black's pipes are those of a genuine femme fatale.

"Bright As We Can Shine" adds a saxophone and brings back fond memories of Morphine. Black sounds as cool as ever.

The anthemic "Fear is the new black" is infectious and punky, Black sounding impassioned and feral.

Bettie Black's debut is short, sharp and wets the appetite for more of the same.
