Beth Thornley by Beth Thornley "Beth Thornley"
by Beth Thornley

a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Beth Thornley's debut contains smart, catchy pop. Her voice is flexible and her melodies memorable.

"You Made it so" is a break-up song with a sunny disposition that contrasts with the sharp lyrics.

"Arrogance" is rather like Aimee Mann musically. It has the same plaintive mood and attention to melody that makes Mann so great.

"How Many Days" starts out all bluesy but then turns into a ska tune. Thornley then mixes the two styles in an inventive way.

"Don't Save Me" is anthemic and sad at once.

"Lucky You" is hard not to sing along too. Then you might notice the disturbing words about drugging someone to make them more fun to be with.

Beth Thornley is one to watch, she's a really gifted musician.
